'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the nail-biting final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear after the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful strike from outside the box, and the defender promptly converted the rebound before sprinting toward the home end to mark the goal, with supporters congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

This capped an incredible recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 during the second half. Amid the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator shouting out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win secured a next round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for having a go from that distance," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right defensive wing after Orient changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way the underdogs played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the basics and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they never miss a pass and they know how to control and slow down a game. You can think you're all right and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and concentration just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at Orient and has swiftly done the same in south Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that growth for his team and nation, shining for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including home and away encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the youngster from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was closed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he comments, smiling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How hard was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I thought I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a minibus driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to interact with the lads but I'm planning to be the next one to drive independently and driving. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
